Non Departmental Public Body (NDPB) governed by an independent Board made up of a chair and six members. Its role is to protect vulnerable and exploited workers. Through the intelligence received from their inspections, the public, industry and other government departments, GLAA investigates reports of worker exploitation and illegal activity such as human trafficking, forced labour and illegal labour provision, as well as offences under the National Minimum Wage and Employment Agencies Acts. GLAA investigates all aspects of labour exploitation in England and Wales but they also work with partner organisations such as the police, the National Crime Agency and other government law enforcement agencies Labour providers are assessed to check they meet the GLAA licensing standards which cover health and safety, accommodation, pay, transport and training. GLAA checks that they are fit to hold a licence and that tax, National Insurance and VAT regulations are met. Esta entidad está regulada fundamentalmente por la Gangmasters (Licensing) Act 2004 que en su section 1(2) establece las funciones que llevará a cabo el GLAA (véase tabla 106):

En España existe la figura de la Inspección de Trabajo y Seguridad Social (ITSS), que, como ya mencionamos en la explicación del término Employment Agency Standards inspectorate, y que, cuenta entre sus funciones las siguientes:

En cuanto a la traducción, en Eurlex (Documento 32019L1937) es posible encontrar el término gangmaster traducido como “reclutador” o “jefe de equipo”. Una propuesta de traducción podría ser la resultante de combinar un equivalente literal con uno descriptivo, dando lugar, por ejemplo, a “Organismo de inspección de jefes de equipo y abuso laboral (GLAA)”.
